The Distribution chart is comparative analysis tool, allowing to you directly compare and monitor your training, as well as discover trends. Like other widgets, you can customize this graph to narrow down the activity type, set custom time periods, and choose from a wide range of activity metrics to display on your x-axis.

Within the graph, you can:

  • View a single period/date range, or you can use the custom period picker to select multiple periods for comparison. i.e. compare this season's build to last season.
  • When a single period is selected, you will also see the options to Drill in or Drill out of the graph. This allows you to get a more granular year, month or week breakdown of the data. You can directly compare your progression month by month etc.
  • You can sort data by sport, or break down a sport by activity type (race or workout) or equipment type.

To customize your distribution chart, click the Configuration tool  icon in the upper right of the chart.

  • Only Display: Set the range of values to display on the x-axis, which allows you to exclude less common values, such as maximum power or HR values. Values outside of the display range will still be included in the time or percentage calculations, however, so long as they're within the index range (below).
  • Only Index: Set the range of values to include in the data set, which allows you to exclude numbers that may be outliers or not relevant for inclusion.
  • Bin size: The bin size is the range of values that will be grouped together on the x-axis, i.e. the size of each line on the graph. This number should change based on which metric you are using, as the range in values will change. Power, for example, might work well in bin sizes anywhere from 10-25 (watts), but for Heart Rate, 5 (bpm) may be a more optimal range.
  • Channel: Choose which metric or data channel to plot on the graph.  Click (Choose field) to pick from a range of available metrics from your activities. Note that other fields will be based on min, max, or average over the entire activity, rather than per second data within each activity.
  • Aggregate: Choose to group workouts by workout type or equipment in order to compare how your performance varies between riding styles (such as road versus mtb) or workout type (such as training, race, or threshold test).
  • Display: Choose to display the y axis as a total time, percentage of time, or count of activities. This feature may be helpful when comparing items with unequal time durations, such as when comparing race data to your workout data.  Since total workout data includes much more time, it may be more useful to view
